Analysis of Research Report on New Sector of Future Industry (1)

In the context of accelerating global economic integration, countries are actively seeking new growth points to ensure their competitive advantage. In particular, those leading countries and regions have promoted the rapid development of advanced manufacturing, artificial intelligence, quantum technology and next-generation communications through all-round institutional innovation. These efforts have not only injected new vitality into the global economy, but also provided valuable lessons for other countries. The "Future Industry New Sector Research Report" released by the China Electronic Information Industry Development Research Institute covers the background of the development of the future industry and the layout at home and abroad.

Ⅰ The background of future industrial development

As a leader in technological innovation, the United States has taken a series of measures to promote the development of related industries, such as the enactment of the "Chips and Science Act", "ambitious goals for biotechnology and biomanufacturing", and for the first time proposed the establishment of the Future Industry Research Institute. In addition, the United States has established 31 regional science and technology centers around the world, and has joined forces with the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada and other 10 countries to jointly promote "6G network research and development and standardization in line with common principles". These initiatives will undoubtedly strengthen the United States' leadership in cutting-edge science and technology.

China is also in a critical period of economic transformation and upgrading, facing the task of transforming from traditional manufacturing to high-end manufacturing. To this end, the Chinese government has stepped up investment in emerging technologies and has set up a number of future industry pilot zones across the country. For example, the Chongqing Liangjiang Collaborative Innovation Zone focuses on the research and development of aerospace information; The Chongqing High-tech Industrial Development Zone focuses on the development of artificial intelligence. At the same time, various provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government) have issued more than 30 relevant policy documents, aiming to accelerate the layout and development of future industries.

Ⅱ The significance of the new field and new track of the future industry

1. Accelerate the formation of new growth points for the global economy

According to market research firm McKinsey, AI is expected to contribute about $25.6 trillion to the global economy by 2030, accounting for about 8% of the current global GDP. In addition, data from Grand View Research (GVR) shows that the global humanoid robot market size will expand rapidly at a compound annual growth rate of more than 21% between 2023 and 2030. This shows that the future industry will not only drive domestic economic growth, but also become an important engine for global economic recovery.

2. Enhance international competitiveness and discourse

In the face of fierce international competition, many developed countries have formulated corresponding strategic plans. The United States focuses on the development of quantum information and artificial intelligence, and strives to maintain its leading position in the industry of the future. The European Union (EU) has launched the New European Industrial Strategy, which aims to strengthen intra-regional industrial cooperation and technology sharing. Japan and South Korea have formulated the Basic Energy Plan, the Basic Strategy for Hydrogen Energy, and the National Strategic Technology Cultivation Program, respectively, and are committed to the development of clean energy and high-tech products. It can be seen that whoever can take the lead in mastering key technologies will be able to occupy a favorable position in global competition.

3. Stimulate the endogenous driving force of innovation and development

In China, with the introduction of a series of supporting policies, provinces and cities have actively responded to the call to accelerate the layout of future industries. According to statistics, more than 30 provincial future industrial policy documents have been released, covering intelligent manufacturing, biomedicine, new energy and other fields. By establishing new R&D institutions, increasing R&D investment, and improving the legal and regulatory system, China is gradually building a good environment conducive to innovation and entrepreneurship, and stimulating the creativity and vitality of the whole society.

In short, the future industry is not only the result of scientific and technological progress, but also the key force to promote the overall progress of the economy and society. Seizing this opportunity, both for individual countries and for the world as a whole, will mean winning the initiative for future development.
