The 1.5 Million Kilowatt Wind Power Project in Inner Mongolia Was Grid

Recently, the 1.5 million-kilowatt wind storage base project of Inner Mongolia Energy Urad Zhongqi has achieved the first unit connected to the grid for power generation. The project is the largest single onshore wind power project in China, marking a milestone step in China's clean energy field. The completion and operation of the project not only demonstrates China's technical strength in the field of wind power, but also highlights the key role of renewable energy in the energy transition.

Project Overview: Large-scale, technology-leading

Covering an area of 400 square kilometers, the project has installed 150 wind turbines with a single capacity of 10 MW, with a total installed capacity of 1.5 million kilowatts. The project is equipped with three 220 kV booster stations and related transmission facilities to fully realize intelligent management.

Technological innovation is one of the highlights of the project. For example, the wind turbine blades are designed with all-carbon pultruded beams, which greatly improves strength and durability. The cable laying adopts the first one-time pouring and forming closed cable pipe gallery in the region, which effectively improves the construction efficiency and safety. In addition, the project has achieved full 5G network coverage, providing technical support for remote monitoring and intelligent operation and maintenance.

Environmental protection and energy saving: The data highlights the green benefits

When fully operational, the project is expected to generate 5.44 billion kilowatt hours of electricity annually, which is enough to meet the annual electricity demand of about 1.51 million families of three.

Remarkable results in energy conservation and emission reduction:

- It can save 1.64 million tons of standard coal per year, equivalent to about 7.2 billion yuan in energy costs;

- Reduce CO2 emissions by 5 million tons, equivalent to planting 300 million trees;

- Reduced soot emissions by about 530 tons, making a significant contribution to improving air quality.

At the national level, by 2024, China's installed wind power capacity has exceeded 510 million kilowatts, and the installed photovoltaic capacity has reached 840 million kilowatts. The average utilization rate of these projects has remained above 95%, indicating that the technical maturity and economic benefits of clean energy projects are continuing to rise.

Construction and O&M: Safety and efficiency are equally important

During the construction of the project, a series of innovative measures were adopted to ensure construction safety and quality. For example, for the first time in the construction of the booster station, the outer frame steel plate mesh structure was introduced, and the single-blade hoisting method was adopted in the process of fan hoisting, which greatly reduced the difficulty and risk of construction.

In terms of operation and maintenance, the project uses intelligent technology to realize real-time monitoring of wind turbines, booster stations and cable pipe corridors, which effectively improves the operation and maintenance efficiency and fault response capabilities of the project.

Social and economic benefits: Promote the transformation of the energy structure

The grid-connected power generation of the Urad Zhongqi Wind Storage Base Project has not only injected strong impetus into the local economy, but also become an important starting point for promoting the optimization of China's energy structure.

- Social benefits: providing a stable supply of clean energy and creating more than 2,000 direct jobs;

- Economic benefits: The annual output value of the project is expected to exceed 4 billion yuan, injecting new momentum into regional economic development;

- Strategic significance: As a leading wind power project in China, Urad Zhongqi Wind Storage Base has set a benchmark for the realization of the goal of "carbon peak and carbon neutrality".

Global Perspective: Providing China's Experience for Wind Power Development

In the context of global energy transition, China's wind power technology and project management experience has extensive reference significance. For example, the high-efficiency fan design, intelligent monitoring platform and modular construction method adopted in this project can provide reference for other countries and regions.

The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) predicts that by 2030, 60 GW of new wind power capacity will need to be installed globally to meet climate goals. As the global leader in wind power installations, China will play an important role in technology export and experience sharing.

Conclusion: A firm step towards a green future

The grid-connected power generation of the Inner Mongolia Energy Urad Zhongqi Wind Storage Base Project is another major breakthrough in China's wind power industry. From technological innovation to energy conservation and emission reduction, the successful implementation of this project has injected new momentum into the development of clean energy in China, and also provided valuable experience for the global energy transition.

In the future, with the continuous progress of technology and policy support, China's wind power industry will continue to flourish and play a greater role in promoting global sustainable development and achieving a green future.
